When losing weight everyone knows you need to be in a caloric deficit leading you to eat better foods because they are more nutrient-dense without all the calories. Diet Coke may seem like a healthy option but in excess, it’s not. It’s like when a person decides to e-cig or vape instead of cigarettes because people claim it’s healthier. It doesn’t fix the problem more like stalls.

What are artificial sweeteners

So artificial sweeteners are chemicals used to make food taste sweeter without the extra calories.

Eating excess amounts of Artificial sweeteners brings out many of the same problems as sugar. Such as addiction, increased risk of type 2 diabetes, and can increase your risk of cancer.

Sugar in Fruits

I hate it when people say that they don’t eat fruit because it has sugar in it. Sugar found in fruits is made differently. It's made of fructose and glucose. They are highly nutritious with lots of fiber, but on the other hand, refined sugar isn’t so nutritious for the body. You should be fine if you eat actual fruit rather than fruit juice.

Alternatives to Artificial Sweeteners

So when you are trying to lose weight some healthy alternatives that you can use is adding fruit to your meals to make them taste better. This could be on oatmeal or your salads. Then there are natural sweeteners you can like honey to your meals in a reasonable amount, dates, unsweetened applesauce, or spices such as cinnamon.
