Calisthenic is best known for needing minimal equipment. But these 5 accessories will help you build strength and keep your joints healthy while doing it.

Parallettes

By: Gravity Fitness

The parallettes allow you to keep your wrist joints healthy by putting them in a neutral grip. You can use them for handstands, push-ups, or other variations.

There are different heights of parallettes. The bigger they are the easier it will be to perform exercises such as the l-sit because of the greater range of motion, while the smaller they are the harder it is to use them because there’s less range of motion.

Rings

Jonathan Horton

Rings are an apparatus used in gymnastics that can help you make gains in calisthenics. It causes your muscles to be in an unstable position making them work harder. The rings are versatile equipment that in my opinion is an essential tool.

Angle Parallettes

Simon Monster

Angle parallettes is a variation of parallettes that can help you achieve movements like the planche or 90HSPU much easier. The parallettes are angled to allow a decrease in the chance of injury in the wrist and can help you accumulate more volume.

Bands

Tony CICCIA

Resistance bands are another versatile piece of equipment that can be utilized at all fitness levels. If you are a beginner you can use it to help you learn fundamental exercises like the pullup or dip. If you an intermediate to advance it can help you learn the front lever or planche.

Pullup bar

Verywell Fit

If you don’t already have one, I would suggest getting a pullup bar. A pull-up bar is a staple tool that can help you develop your back. There are also many other exercises that you can do to develop other areas of the body, such as the abs.

Conclusion

If you were to only get one of these items, I would choose the ring because there are so many things that you can do with them. The instability of the rings and the overall versatility can help you build strength in calisthenics.
